SPOILER ALERT I don’t like this movie and pretty much ignore it for two reasons: (1) John Wayne dies in it (WTF!) after being a jerk for most of the movie and (2) not to denigrate the contribution of Seabees to the War Effort, but remember that Ward Cleaver was a Seabee.

This is a very predictable but well-made wartime war movie, with all the jingoistic flag waving you’d expect. John Wayne is not at his best, but he’s still the best part of the movie, which says a lot.
